About 30 yrs. ago, my parents got me this same bottle cutter for Christmas. At the time I was young and impatient and didn't understand the directions. I kept turning the bottle around and around, thinking it would cut better. It didn't and I lost interest because it didn't work. Fast forward to 2012.

I got it in my mind that I wanted to cut bottles as accent pieces after seeing items on Pinterest. I did my research and found excellent reviews for Ephrem's Bottle Cutter. I was given an Amazon gift cert for Christmas and decided that I'd use it on the cutter.

When it was delivered (very quickly), I opened it up, read the instructions and sat down to cut some bottles. I prepared 4 bottles, removing their labels, deciding that this number would give me a decent percentage to test. Out of the 4, I ended up with 3 that were clean cuts. (I know the the first one I etched was the only one that didn't "cut" right.) I was very happy with those odds.

The only thing I would criticize is the instructions on separating the pieces. The instructions tell us to run the etch over a burning candle and then running an ice cube immediately after. This is the procedure that was part of the reason I gave this up when I was 11. Luckily, I'd done some research online before I'd ordered Ephrem's Bottle Cutter and found that the pan of boiling water and bucket of ice water works SO much better. It's easier. It's quicker. It's safety is comparable to an open flame. I sincerely believe that this should be added to the instructions as an alternative. Because the separations were so clean, the sanding and grinding was pretty quick and straight forward.

I highly recommend Ephrem's Bottle Cutter to anyone looking for a quality bottle cutter.
